Our Qualified Staff

Dr. Carrie was born and raised in South Africa, where both her parents served as ministers and missionaries. The Bergfalk family moved to to New England when Dr. Carrie was 10 years old and lived there until she graduated from South Kingston High School in Wakefield, Rhode Island in 1977. She received her BA in Biology from Grinnell College in Iowa in 1981. She continued her studies at Life West Chiropractic College in the San Francisco Bay Area, graduating Summa Cum Laude and Salutatorian of her class in 1990. She practiced in San Francisco for 2 years before moving to Bayfield in 1992. She decided Bayfield was the perfect place to raise her daughter, Linnea, who was 14 months old when she moved here . She opened Pine River Chiropractic in May of 1993 and has been privileged to serve the Pine River Valley and surrounding areas for the past 29 years.


In her free time, Dr. Carrie loves to take walks with her 4 dogs, paddle board and camp at Navajo reservoir and SCUBA dive as often as she can get away. She is an active and enthusiastic member of the Pine River Valley Centennial Rotary Club and Bayfield Chamber of Commerce. Fun Fact: Dr Carrie went skydiving in Moab on her 60th birthday!

Five years later, Dr. Carrie approached Kimberly about joining her staff as a massage therapist at Pine River Chiropractic. Kimberly jumped at the chance to work with Dr. Carrie again. For 6 years, Kimberly has not only grown as a massage therapist, but as a diagnostician in the healing arts. She feels grateful to work and collaborate in this field with Dr. Carrie’s support, guidance, and expertise.

Kimberly Carpenter has lived in Durango/Bayfield area for over 25 years. When her son was a year old, Kimberly packed up her son, her mother, and her mother’s dog and moved to Grand Junction to attend the Academy of Beauty Culture for Cosmetology, specializing in Esthetics. After graduating, Kimberly returned to Durango and worked at 6th Street Hair Salon and Day Spa for 5 years. During that time, she sharpened her skills in all things related to beauty and skin care, eventually becoming head esthetician and an instructor of esthetics at this school.


In 2006, Kimberly opened up her esthetics’ business within the offices of Pine River Chiropractic. She owned Head To Toe Esthetics for 3 years when she decided to further her education and professional development by incorporating massage therapy. She graduated from massage school in 2009. Following her graduation, Kimberly worked at Salon Del Sol and Day Spa in Bayfield, as a Cosmetologist and newly licensed massage therapist.

In 2014, Dr. Carrie approached Kimberly about joining her staff as a massage therapist at Pine River Chiropractic. Kimberly jumped at the chance to work with Dr. Carrie again. For 8 years, Kimberly has not only grown as a massage therapist, but as a diagnostician in the healing arts. She feels grateful to work and collaborate in this field with Dr. Carrie’s support, guidance, and expertise.

Allen was born in northern California and was encouraged from chidlhood to explore natural and alternative medicine. In his early 20's, he began studying various forms of healing which let to completing massage therapy school in 2005 at New School of Massage in Chicago. To further his interest in Asian Medicine, he completed both Thai and Shiatsu massage certifications in Asia. In his free time, Allen enjoys spending his time outdoors, long distance cycling, wilderness back packing, rafting, archery and martial arts. When he is not exploring outer landscapes, he explores inner landscapes through meditation practices, Tai Chi and Yoga. Allen's specialties inclued deep tissue, injury rehabilitation, pain management and body rebalancing. Allen will empathetically work with you on creating goals for your healing, rehabilitation, physical harmony and peace.

Victoria has been the office manager of Pine River Chiropractic since 2018. She makes patient appointments and is the low level laser technician. Victoria was raised in Ignacio, Colorado and graduated from Ignacio High School in 2010. She attended University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.


Victoria worked for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe at the Southern Ute Health Center as a Records Technician. Before starting at Pine River Chiropractic, she worked at the Southern Ute Indian Montessori Academy as the office manager from 2014 to 2017.


Victoria is an enrolled member of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
